"Observation and Interaction" is a series of six works that explores the fascinating paradox found in quantum physics where the acts of observation and interaction become inseparable at microscopic scales.

The series uses real-time ray tracing techniques to simulate and manipulate light in ways impossible in the physical world. What makes these works unique is their approach to "camera-less photography" - rather than capturing light with traditional cameras, Wander writes code that simultaneously constructs both the universe being observed and the virtual camera observing it. The works are animated and continuously running, generating never-repeating frames that could continue for millions of years.

Artist Bio:

Lars Wander is a computer artist, born in Germany, and living in NYC. His visual artwork follows his interests in perception, generative patterns, and computational systems. He’s been writing programs to explore complexity for well over a decade, and began publishing his generative artwork in 2020.

During the day, Lars works at Google writing visualization software to understand the dynamics of global-scale storage systems, his scientific research was published in IEEE, and in the evenings he makes electronic music.
